Register for the 17th National Conference on Undergraduate Research, March 13-15. (submit research if you have it...)

Department of Geology invites applications for a Visiting professor--Ohio Wesleyan.

Field Camps:

Wild Rockies Field Institute. Same as last newsletter, but this time they sent a course catalog. And, seriously these programs look great--though they are expensive. check it out. www.wildrockies.org/wrfi

Field Methods in Volcanology--3 weeks in Hawaii studying volcanoes!! University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Summer program in Bournemouth University, England. Study about the cultural and geological history of Wessex. www.bournemouth.ac.uk/international

Changing Lives through service to nature: SCA. Student Conservation Association. Interns in 50 disciplines--hands on career building opportunities. www.theSCA.org

Oak Ridge Science Semester. It's an ACM program--talk to Andrea Cox who is the advisor. U.S. Department of Energy multiprogram laboratory focusing on national and global energy and environmental issues.

Graduate School Opportunities:

The Imaging and Geospatial Information Society (ASPRS) is offering classes and scholarships. Interested in imaging??

Graduate Studies--The university of Texas at El Paso. (isn't eruptive Eaton from here??)

$$25,000!!! The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation--a graduate fellowship in the applied physical sciences. 25 will be awarded this year, and are renewable for 4 more years. If you apply for grad school, you need to apply for this, too. [Editor's note: Very important fellowship; similar to NSF in prestige--and money!] www.hertzfoundation.org

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. By means to encourage citizens trained in disciplines of science--the military is offering 200 new 3-year graduate fellowships in April 2003. There is not military obligation. $23,500. www.asee.org/ndseg
