Here are items of geologic interest that have been sent to our department recently. Our reporter is junior geology major Katie Loughney.
Field Camp:
Wild Rockies Field Institute 2005-2006 field courses (for credit!). A wide range of summer and semester courses exploring the geology and ecology of the Rocky Mountains. Internships and Research Opportunities:
Mesa State College Summer 2005 NSF-REU: “Landscape Evolution in Western Colorado” May 17 – July 13, 2005. Geared toward Geology and Earth Science students, freshmen, sophomore or junior standing in Fall 2005, and includes about six weeks of field work in Colorado (mapping, field observation, stratigraphic and GPS studies) and two weeks of GIS data compilation. Students receive “a weekly stipend of $2400, housing, meal allowance, and round-trip travel to
and from Grand Junction, CO.”
